For safe and efficient operation we offer staff familiarisation either on a jig that is maintained here or on your premises. In addition manuals and a video are available that covers all aspects of safety and daily routine maintenance that you can and should be performing in-house.

Before undertaking any maintenance ensure that the machine is isolated by proper lock out procedures. Then:

• clean the track by removing the cover sections one at a time and using an airline blow out any debris
• remove covers from the knotter and accumulator and blow out
• oil pinion journals, ejector hubs and pivot bolts where shown in the manuals
• check all bolts and springs for wear and tightness
• look for wear in the track and tensioners
• replace all covers securely
• check for any hydraulic leaks

Do not steam clean any part of the assembly. Depending on usage it is sensible to have a service contract whereby our engineers can undertake a thorough strip-down and overhaul to check circuits and replace any parts before breakdowns occur.

Some operational problems can be avoided by storing the wire in clean dry conditions, using the wire in rotation (don't keep more than three month's use in store) and ensuring smooth take-off from the carrier. Do not use contam-inated wire!

Some of the machines we service are worked extremely hard almost continuously, every day of the year: preventative maintenance avoids panics and precious downtime.
